Protecting and preserving our heritage for future generations
The Arts Society ceased supporting Church Recording in 2018 and this volunteering activity has been replaced with Church Inventories.
Church Inventories are carried out within Heritage Volunteering and follow the guidelines laid out by The Art Loss Register, the world's leading due diligence provider for the art market and maintains the world's largest private database of stolen art, antiques and collectables.
These important inventories, created by our volunteers, record everything inside our churches. Working as a team, the volunteers follow a clearly laid out process to ensure the inventory meets the requirements of The Art Loss Register.
Chuch Recording is now managed by the Church Recording Society and volunteers in our societies liaise with the CR society team. (www.churchrecordingsociety.org.uk)
Volunteers in our societies continue to undertake the invaluable Church Records, creating records of the contents of our national churches, thereby promoting the recognition and preservation of the rich artistic heritage to be found in places of worship of all religions. More than 1,600 Church Records have been completed and can be seen on www.churchrecordingsociety.org.uk
